        奧林匹克運動會為世界體壇最重要，也是最高水準之綜合性運動賽會，我國已規劃完善之培訓制度，期能在2004奧運突破零「金」瓶頸。本文針對體委會遴選奧運奪金與奪牌希望濃厚之重點運動種類之選手培訓情形及其預期成效做一分析，期能提供讀者對我國奧運選手之實力有更深入之了解。

        The Olympic Games have been the greatest occasion with the highest competition level in the world of sports. Taiwan has implemented a well-planned athlete development and training system. It is hopeful that the athletes will win the first gold medal in the Olympic Games for the nation. This article introduces the athlete training process of selected sports with medal-winning potential in the ATHENS 2004. It also analyzes the possible performance results of the Taiwanese Olympians for the knowledge of the readers.

        Athens, after more than 100 years, was granted the right to stage the Olympic Games for the second time. Being the place of origin of the Olympic Movement, hosting the first Olympic Games in the 21 century is especially meaningful for Greece. This article introduces the history, spirit and values of the Olympics and further discusses Athens' bidding process for the 2004 Olympic Games. It also provides an overview of the major efforts put forth by Athens authorities.

This longing will probably be more intensified if the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games turn out to be a success.         Physical fitness is an indicator of a nation's power whereas athletic performance stands for a nation's level of competitiveness in sports. Olympic Games have been the most desirable arenas for athletes from all over the world to fulfill their dreams. They have also provided opportunities for Taiwanese athletes to strive for national pride. This article elaborates on the National Sports Training Center of the Republic of China and its operation concerning athletes' training and preparation for the ATHENS 2004.         With less physique constraints, shooting has been one of the key developing sports for the Republic of China. The Taiwanese shooting team has performed outstandingly in recent international championships. It has also raised expectations of the Taiwanese people to win the first gold medal in the Olympics.         Taekwondo has been regarded as the most promising sport for the Republic of China to win gold medals in international competitions. Therefore, the National Council on Physical Fitness and Sports has listed Taekwondo as one of the key sports in which Taiwan has potential to win a gold medal at the ATHENS 2004. It has provided a full range of resources in meeting the Taekwondo team's training needs. This article describes in detail the athlete selection and training plans for the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games and discusses strategies for coping with the newly modified rules.

        The ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games is in its final-count-down phase. To bring home the nation's first Olympic gold medal, all loose ends are being tightened and preparation efforts are being intensified. This article introduces the preparation process of four athletes, Chuang Chih-Yuan, Yuan Shu-Chi, Chen Shih-Hsin and Chu Mu-Yen.
